Bio: Kelly Smallwood graduated with her B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2018 and M.S. in Nutritional Science in 2020 from California State University Long Beach. Last month, Kelly was honored with the Dean’s Award for the MS in Nutritional Science class of 2020 for her contributions to the University and her local community. She is currently completing her hours as a dietetic intern and will sit for the national exam this fall to become a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN). She served on the board for the California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics-Orange District as a student board member from 2016-2019. Kelly more recently presented at Memorial Care Long Beach Medical Center’s 32nd Annual Heart Healthy Event where she discussed heart healthy ingredients prevalent in the Mediterranean diet. She has worked as a diet technician and counselor at an inpatient residential facility for adolescent eating disorders for over 3 years. As a former dancer at Dancer’s Edge in Visalia, CA, Kelly aims to help dancers have a healthy relationship with food and reap the benefits of proper nutrition. Upon passing the RDN exam this fall, Kelly aspires to work as a clinical dietitian and dreams of one day opening up a private practice that specializes in disordered eating and women’s health.
